A great night it was last Wednesday. Manchester United playing home opened a 3-0 advantage which seemed like an impossible job for the Germans to pass, but they showed heart and scored the two needed goals to go to next phase. Olic’s goal in the last minute of first half was decisive to Van Gaal’s side to return from the locker room confident enough to reach the objetive. It was a great football played by both sides.

Meanwhile in France, Lyon playing with a 3-1 advantage from first leg on their back, were brave and even quite lucky when they held the current France champions from Bordeaux. The goal scored in the end of first half served to put some wood in the fire and made Bordeaux even more keen to keep the pressure on. Looked like a one side match, since Bordeaux played almost the whole game inside Lyon’s field, but they were stopped by the good goalkeeper from Lyon, Hugo Lloris. It’s said that Juventus is spotting this young man as a replacement for Gigi Buffon. He can’t be that bad, can he? ;)

Posted by ballabettor On March - 31 - 2010

Came back from the pub yesterday after watching both Bayern Munich x Man. United and Lyon x Bordeaux. About the first match, even tho I dislike both teams for different teams, I was very interested about it.

Rooney is in amazing form and is becoming England’s only hope to World Cup this year. But this time the United’s luck turn to the other side and Bayern found a goal in the last chance for the 2×1. Ribéry proved once again he is also one of the best players in the world nowadays, leading the whole team to this victory. And got to say that Olic was a surprise trying creative plays against such strong team.

A good week for football

Posted by ballabettor On February - 19 - 2010

This week was very good for football in general.

In the middle of it, Man United went to Milano to face the Rossoneri. Despite a great first half by the Italians, Fergunson’s side scored 3 times for a 2×3 final and making things very hard for Ronaldinho’s team mates when they have the return match.

Real Madrid went to Lyon and had a hard time against the local club. The 1×0 lost still leave things pretty much open for this battle. Read the rest of this entry »
